W&M BOV to Meet July 25-27 in Washington
Board members to discuss strategic goals ahead of new school year
The College of William and Mary Board of Visitors released its schedule for this year’s summer retreat. Scheduled from Wednesday, July 25, to Thursday, July 27, the session comes after new appointments to the board announced by Gov. Glenn Youngkin earlier this month.
According to the itinerary, the board will discuss strategic goals for the College, including a session discussing rankings, as well as upcoming plans for Richard Bland College of William and Mary. The board’s activities will primarily take place at the College’s Washington DC Center, located within the D.C. Bar building.Â
Last year, the board also held its summer retreat at the same venue. It was a slight change from 2021, which saw the rector, board members, faculty and College President Katherine Rowe meeting at the Moton Conference Center and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Gloucester county.Â
The meetings are expected to be open to the public with no opportunity for public comment, as has previously always been the case.
The board met earlier this year to increase tuition fees and approved a $556.7 million budget for Fiscal Year 2024, as well as faculty promotions and retirements.Â
Correction: The first version of this article stated that the last day the board would meet for the summer retreat was Friday, July 28. The date has been changed to the correct one, Thursday, July 27.
